Clearview fencing: what to know before you install

Clearview fencing has become one of the most requested perimeter options for homes and businesses in Zimbabwe. Here is what to think about before you install one.

What Clearview fencing is

Clearview is a welded steel mesh fence with small openings. The tight mesh is difficult to climb and to cut, while the open design lets you see through it. It can be installed as a full perimeter, between existing pillars, or on top of a wall.

Clearview or a solid wall?

A solid wall gives privacy, but it also gives an intruder somewhere to hide once they are over it. Clearview keeps the property visible from inside and from the street, so neighbours, guards and passers-by can see what is happening. Many owners combine the two: a low wall with Clearview panels above.

Choosing the right type

• Clearview palisade: full-height security fencing for homes and premises.
• Clearview running fence (2.1 m): a popular choice for longer perimeters.
• Clearview garden fence: lower fencing for gardens and frontages.

Adding extra security

For higher-risk sites, razor wire or security spikes can be added on top, and the fence can be combined with electric fencing, alarms or CCTV.

Don't forget the gate

The gate is often the weakest point. A Clearview sliding or swing gate built to match the fence keeps the whole perimeter the same strength.
